Three Wise Cousins.

You wanna be a real island guy?

In this lighthearted comedy, Adam overhears his crush say she only likes “real island guys,” prompting him to pack his bags for Samoa. Shot over two weeks in Samoa, this self-funded film features Adam’s cousins teaching him the ins and outs of island life. Three Wise Cousins made a splash at the NZ box office, debuting at number eight and attracting solid audiences. The goal was to create a visually engaging look and feel that authentically represents Pacific culture while appealing to both young and mature audiences. The challenge was to modernize the Pacific island aesthetic to avoid any tackiness while maintaining a cohesive theme suitable for a family comedy.

The results.

To achieve this, we blended traditional Pacific motifs with contemporary design elements, striking a balance between cultural authenticity and modern appeal. The logo features a coconut image, thoughtfully integrated to avoid any clichéd representations. For the typography, we opted for a bold yet lighthearted style, enhancing the film's playful tone while remaining respectful of its cultural roots. This approach ensures that Three Wise Cousins resonates with a diverse audience, inviting them to enjoy Adam’s journey of self-discovery and cultural connection.
