The Co-operative Bank.

Strengthening Market Presence with a Refined Brand.

The Co-operative Bank, a New Zealand-based bank offering everyday banking, loans, insurance, and business services, needed to reposition itself within the corporate banking landscape. While the previous brand emphasized a community-oriented feel, it lacked the seriousness required to stand out in the competitive financial sector.

The results.

To enhance the bank's credibility, we introduced a brand platform centered around creating more "Bankiness." This new direction focused on refining the tone and visual identity to convey a more professional and serious image, while still preserving the brand’s approachable nature. We retained the iconic green associated with the brand but introduced Aubergine to set it apart from competitors like Kiwi Bank.

The typography was updated from a casual, handwritten style to a bold, modern design, adding a sense of authority and clarity. Design elements were streamlined to ensure cohesion with existing assets, resulting in a more polished and unified visual identity that aligns with the bank’s strategic goals. This rebrand effectively positions The Co-operative Bank as both trustworthy and community-focused in the competitive banking industry.
